Life has a curious way of shaping us through the storms we never saw coming. Looking back, I can now see how every upheaval, heartbreak, and restart in my life quietly guided me toward what I was meant to do, help others find their strength, reconnect with themselves, and rediscover hope.
This is the story of how I became a life coach, and how I learned that human connection, empathy, and a friendly ear can change everything.
A New World at Eight
When I was eight years old, my family and I immigrated to Portugal. It was a new country, a new language, and a completely different way of life. For a child, it felt like being dropped into another universe.
I remember the loneliness of not fitting in, of watching other kids play while I stood on the sidelines, unsure how to join. The challenges felt like mountains then, steep, endless, and lonely. But slowly, I adapted. I learned the language, made friends, and began to feel at home.
Just when things finally started to settle, life had another plan.
The Return That Broke Me
At 13, I was uprooted again, this time back to my country of origin. What should have been familiar now felt foreign. The culture, the people, even the way of life, it all seemed strange.
It was brutal to start over again, socially and emotionally. I felt like I had taken a giant step backward. Yet, through it all, I found resilience I didn’t know I had. I adjusted, made friends, and even fell in love. In time, I got married and began to build a life.
But life wasn’t done testing my ability to adapt.
A New Beginning in Cyprus
Because of the unrest and political situation in South Africa, my partner and I made the difficult decision to move once again, this time to Europe, settling in Cyprus.
It was my third major move, and though I prayed it would be the last, the beginning was anything but easy. For the first time, I was truly far from my family. That void, the distance from loved ones is something I still feel today.
Still, I kept going. I built a new life, little by little, through the challenges and loneliness. And just when things seemed stable, life delivered another blow.
The Breaking Point
My partner left me. Completely out of the blue.
There are moments in life that shake you to your core, and this was one of them. Suddenly, I was completely alone, no wife, no family, and barely any money. My sense of self crumbled. I didn’t know who I was anymore or what came next.
Days blurred into nights. The silence was deafening. But somehow, through sheer willpower, I kept going. I applied everything I’d ever learned about perseverance, emotional resilience, and self-discipline. Slowly, I clawed my way out of the darkness.
The scars from that time still live with me. They show up in subtle ways, in how I connect, how I listen, and how I care.
The Lessons Life Taught Me
Looking back now, I can see the invisible thread that ran through all those moments — love, empathy, and the human need for connection.
Those experiences taught me more about people, cultures, and emotions than any classroom ever could. I learned adaptability, compassion, and the strength of vulnerability. Most of all, I learned that even when everything falls apart, we can rebuild, stronger, wiser, and more open than before.
A New Chapter: Life Coaching
Fast forward twenty years, and life looks beautifully different. I have a wonderful wife, two children I adore, and a home that’s nearly paid off. Apart from now understanding the importance of being there for others, I don’t need anything, but I want something deeply meaningful: to help others.
That’s how I found my purpose as a life coach. you can read more about my background on my About page.
I know what it’s like to feel lost, disconnected, or uncertain about your future. I know what it’s like to rebuild from nothing. And I know the incredible power of having someone, even just one person, who listens without judgment and walks beside you while you find your way.
Why I Do What I Do
My coaching practice is built on the belief that we all need connection, a safe space to be heard, to be understood, and to rediscover the strength we already have inside us.
I don’t have all the answers. But I do have a map, one we can draw together. Whether you’re facing emotional upheaval, career crossroads, or a life transition, I’m here to guide you, support you, and remind you that you’re not alone.
Let’s Rebuild Together
If my story resonates with you, if you’ve ever felt lost, uprooted, or uncertain about your path, know that change is possible. Healing is possible. Growth is possible.
Together, we can help you find clarity, purpose, and peace again.
